Still one of the best turn based strategy game after all these years. The game is known for its RNG but in my experience it's mostly known as a meme and I never had cases where I felt the game was fault for a defeat. If I win that's because I did good and if I lose that's because I made a mistake and deserve it. That's how it feels and I love it. As for DLCs WotC should be the priority if you're interested. It adds so much contents and basically turns the game into a completely new experience. Shen's last gift DLC gives access to the SPARK units, which are battle robots. It's not necessary, but cool. Would recommend to be careful with Alien rulers DLC though. I'd say consider it at least after you've gotten some grasp of the game. It can be quite punishing. Strike the aliens, vigilo confido.
